From August 19th to 20th, 2020, Song Wenbao, chairman of the Yichang CPPCC, led a team to Changyang to conduct a special survey on the development of Changyang's Chinese medicinal materials industry.
The investigating team investigated the Hubei Kangnong Seed Industry Co., Ltd. located in the Puling Village Chinese medicinal material selection and cultivation demonstration base, the konjac seed selection and expansion base, and listened to the company’s directors on the construction, development status, and planning layout of the Chinese medicinal material base. After reporting on intensive processing, market prospects and the construction of the entire industry chain, the company fully affirmed the development of new varieties of Chinese medicinal materials through the establishment of expert workstations and close cooperation with scientific research institutes. I heard that it has just obtained six new varieties of Chinese medicinal materials ( New varieties of Artemisia annua "Zhongkangyouqing 1" and "Zhongkangyouqing 2", new varieties of Gastrodia "Luema-1", new varieties of perilla "Huazhongyaozi 1" and "Huazhongyaozi 2" No.”, the new Danshen variety “Efeng No. 1”) was highly appreciated for its achievements after passing the appraisal.

Chairman Song emphasized that the development of the Chinese herbal medicine industry must adhere to scientific planning and rational layout; it must be closely integrated with poverty alleviation to help poor households increase income and poverty; it must continue to cultivate and grow leading enterprises, and give full play to the demonstration and leading role of enterprises and bases; actively strive for Relevant departments provide guidance and support, seize opportunities, integrate resources, focus on building local brands, and make the Chinese herbal medicine industry bigger and stronger.
